In his daily routine he uses measurement systems he has built himself to track clickthroughs from Twitter to the Guardian's site, and for competitive analysis, and is an advocate of journalists as programmers using data sources to discover news that would otherwise be overlooked.

Richard Flewitt is a Video Consultant with a wealth of experience working for clients including Vision Express, Nottingham Theatre Royal, Chrysler Daimler, the NHS, and Alton Towers. Prior to establishing New Edge in 2003, Richard worked in Broadcast TV production (Carlton TV) where he produced news and factual programmes.
His approach to video challenges the dated, traditional corporate video style, by using the much more ‘user friendly’ and immediate approach from the world of factual television. The focus of New Edge films is very much on the message, or story contained in a film, and the people around whom the story centres. His passion for helping clients to find the most appropriate style and language to communicate messages that will engage an audience and inspire them to take action.
